The Volkart Foundation promotes projects and initiatives in the field of ecology, the social sector, media, and documentary film. With our commitment, we want to contribute to protect our ecosystems, enable equal opportunities and inclusion for all and promote a balanced media diversity.

We emphasis a systemic programme approach, the use of synergies, and interdisciplinarity. The root causes of of social challenges need to be addressed, rather than only alleviating the symptoms.

A space for dialogue and reflection is provided by the foundation’s own cultural establishment COALMINE.  The café, exhibition space and varied events that are offered in the Volkarthaus provide a platform for diverse perspectives and enable a lively exchange of opinions.
